In Zen Route, we teach Hatha Yoga and we like to explore the different pillars of the Yoga Tradition.

YOGA AND MEDITATION

Yoga

Hatha Yoga pares poses and breathing to align and calm the body, mind, and spirit in preparation for meditation.

It is one of the oldest yoga systems of all time.

The aim is to establish a deep connection within the person, providing the insight of what we already truly are.

Pranayama

Pranayama is a practice that involves the management or control of the breath.

Ancient yoga philosophy maintains that pranayama practice is a powerful tool for healing and enhancing clarity and vitality.

Meditation

Meditation is a practice of contemplating the Self and the present moment.

It is seen as a mental cultivation, just like the gym, it is seen as physical training.

Meditation seeks to focus the mind on a particular point or object of meditation, such as the breath or the body. You become fully conscious, observing the present moment with mindfulness, without any kind of judgment. At the same time you work in various attitudes such as, accepting the present moment, observing reality as it is, without filters and without the conditioned mind.

Science has already come to prove the immense benefits of meditation.

Yoga Nidra

An amazing techniques which creates a deep physical, mental and emotional relaxation.

1 hour of Yoga Nidra corresponds to 4 hours of deep sleep.

Philosophy

The difference between merely going to the gym and practicing yoga is the philosophy! Yoga philosophy provides a personal context for getting the most out of practices such as posture flow, breathing exercises, or mental meditational practices.

If one adopts a philosophical approach to Yoga, then all activities are limbs in support of one’s own autonomy and mastery over life.  Without yoga philosophy, practices such as posture flow, or breathing exercises, can become fetishes and hindrances to one’s own independence.
